The Shun Classic Chef's Knife in 25cm features a longer blade that provides additional leverage for cutting larger foods, while also being versatile enough to handle a variety of cutting tasks such as slicing, dicing and chopping. Designed with a thinner blade in mind, this chefs knife makes meal prep less tiring to use than similar European-style Chef's knives. Its longer blade also allows for cutting more product with fewer strokes, making it more efficient in commercial kitchens. The blade is made from Shun's proprietary high-performance VG-MAX steel providing excellent edge retention and is clad with Damascus stainless steel, making the knives sharp, durable, and corrosion-resistant. The Damascus cladding also reveals the layered steel's flowing pattern, adding to the knives' beauty. The knives feature D-shaped ebony PakkaWood handles, which provide a comfortable and secure grip while working in the kitchen.

I am now a

I am now a convert!! I've been a chef for (well) over 20 years and have always treated myself to the best knives you could get - you know the ones - all German, Swiss or French ones that cost a fortune. I'm now into my second year of working at a fantastic fishing lodge situated in the Tiwi Isalnds and I get a lot of very fresh fish to cut up for sashimi. I figured if i really want to do this right I'd have to get a proper Japanese sashimi knife. While purchasing it I saw this knife and as i needed a cooks knife without a heel, I'd been thinking European of course before i'd seen this. Anyway - I've never been so excited about a piece of kit since buying my very first knife. It is REALLY sharp and stays that way. My F-dick is always sharp - but not like this. The blade is so thin it feels like it's twice as sharp as my other 'traditional' knives. Steeling it is a case of 4 light runs and it's ready to go. I have never sliced tomatoes as easily as i do with this (told you i was excited - it could be considered a little large for slicing tomatoes but it is still a lot more efficient than using any of my other knives). HIGHLY recommended - you will not be dissapointed, and if you've never used this style of knife before, get ready to - be excited!

I bought this knife

I bought this knife for my self when i received some presents for turning third year apprentice, This knife has to be one of the best knives ive used and owned in the kitchen, the Perfect handle makes any of those long dawnting jobs really good. This blade takes a lot to get Dull and on another plus note its VERY easy to sharpen, I suggest the shun stone. I reccomend this knife to alot of people. Its Very good

As a professional chef/cook,

As a professional chef/cook, we become accustomed to picking a favourite brand of knife. I was always a Fury man myself, and still am. however, I did purchase this particular knife for my first Shun, and have gotten many more since. These knives are so incredibly elegant to use, perfection in balanced knife, and contoured handle. Incredibe edge on the knife which requires far less honing than other knives. Ontop of all that, the blade of the Shun knives are something to be seen to be believed. In summation, I nearly have an orgasm evertime I use a Shun knife
